Kathy
O'Guinn,
Minister of Childhood Education
Kathy
O'Guinn has served as Minister of Childhood Education since 1999. Kathy is
also the director of Parents Day Out, a position she has held since 1984. She
has an Associate Degree in Child Development from South Plains College,
seminary experience, and Childhood Ministry Certification from the BGCT.
Kathy served in the Lubbock Baptist Association as Preschool ACTeam member.
She is also a member of the South Plains Association for the Education of
Young Children, Texas Baptist Church Weekday Education Association, the
Weekday Education Conference at Wayland Committee, the Salado
Children/Preschool Ministers Sharing Committee and serves as the camp director
for the area wide CAMP 456.
Kathy is a native of Lubbock and married to Coy O'Guinn, who is employed by
Roadway Express. They have four children, Katie, Cody, Cozi and Cory and ten
grandchildren.
The O'Guinn
family has been members of and served the Lord at Highland since 1982.
Kathy loves the Lord and His children. She feels that the church should be
present in each child's life and should serve to assist the parents in
"training up a child in the way he/she should go".
Children have the
opportunity to participate in music ministry through our children’s.
Children from four years through 6th grade learn the importance
of music through singing, drama and instrumental instruction. The
instruction is both fun and educational. Leaders use music as another medium
to teach Biblical truths.
Royal Ambassadors
(RA’s) and Girls in Action (GA’s) are for boys and girls grades 1 – 6.
Both the boys and the girls programs are designed to teach the importance of
missions to the children. They focus on how the children can be involved in
mission activities in our church community, country and world.
