      Stan and Betty Blevins began their ministry as Highland’s pastor and wife in January, 1986. Dr. Blevins is a gifted preacher and teacher of the Word, as well as an experienced writer, counselor, and administrator. 

      He earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where earlier he received his Master of Divinity degree. 

      Both Dr. Stan and Betty are graduates of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, where he serves on the Board of Development and recently completed three terms as a Trustee of the university. In April, 1999, the Logsdon School of Theology at Hardin-Simmons named Dr. Blevins a Distinguished Alumnus of the school

      Betty Blevins is an accomplished watercolor painter and instructor. She is a Signature Member of the Texas Watercolor Society (Purple Sagebrush) and the West Texas Watercolor Society, and has conducted numerous workshops and programs. Mrs. Blevins is also a real estate agent, associated with McDougal Realtorsâ of Lubbock.

      Dr. and Mrs. Blevins have two children. Their son, Dr. Ronald Blevins, is Minister of Administration at First Baptist Church in Garland, Texas. Their daughter, Kristi Dean, and her husband are owners and operators of Joyland Amusement Park in Lubbock. The Blevins have three grandchildren.

      The Blevins enjoy travel and photography, and are long-time railroad fans. Stan’s writing and photography is often featured in hobby magazines, and Betty’s detailed watercolors of railroad subjects have won many awards and appeared in a number of publications. Their travels and speaking engagements have taken them all over the USA as well as to Israel, Jordan, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Japan, Canada and Mexico.

      Dr. Stan and Betty are warm, friendly, and gracious servants of our Savior. They lead Highland with the spirit and capability born of commitment to Christ and years of experience in His service. In the most personal way possible, they invite you to worship with us and find the joy and purpose that comes from knowing Jesus as Lord.
